My Background

Growing up in rural Wisconsin, I didn't exactly get the best financial education.  Even graduating valedictorian of my class (of 32 students), I probably couldn't have told you the difference between a stock and a bond.  But I knew I was interested in accounting, statistics and planning.  I ended up going to UW-Whitewater to pursue a degree in Finance and Actuarial Mathematics and compete in the Decathlon on the track & field team.  After I completed Calculus III (that's a 3), Discrete Mathematics, and Probability Theory, I decided a career as an actuary was not for me.  At this point, I knew I wasn't interested in corporate finance and I knew I didn't want to be an actuary so, naturally, I began pursuing personal finance.

While I was a student at UW-Whitewater, I interned with a start-up wealth management company.  I was a Data Analytics Intern and wrote algorithms for trading futures and also helped restructure and organize the company's intranet.  This also helped push me towards financial services and away from, say, a Mutual Fund Manager type position.  I then had an internship with a financial services company with a regional office in the Madison area and ultimately started my career there after graduation.

After about a year at this institution, I decided to build my financial practice elsewhere as a financial professional with New York Life.  I absolutely love the support I get from working with one of the strongest, most robust mutual life insurance companies in the industry but I really love the freedom I am given to serve my community through coaching track & field and basketball at my old high school.

Looking foward, I'm beyond excited to continue building my practice and helping to educate young professionals and their families.  I'm a firm believer that great information leads to great decisions and I absolutely love developing my clients to understand and be confident in the decisions we make together.
